Photographer Essentials: The Apple Box
By Jauretsi
The thing I like about eBay is they have this awesome habit of finding experts to chime in on electronic essentials, thereby schooling us on things we never knew. The partnership is aptly called “eBay Finders” (beware, you may get hooked on this blog).
Recently, they asked Zack Arias, an editorial and commercial photographer, to make a list of photography gear tips. Immediately, Zack pointed out the quintessential Apple Box. ”Apple Boxes are extremely low-tech, yet essential pieces of equipment for any photographer or videographer” said the Atlanta Georgia based artist. “When placed under a background cloth or paper, an Apple Box aids in composing a still-life arrangement. When a subject in your group portrait is instructed to sit or stand on one, your photographic composition is improved.” Currently, there are a slew of Apple Boxes on Ebay with bids starting approximately at $33.

Zack goes on to write about other essentials — C Stand Wheels, Reflector Arm, and Lens Adapters among others — all with links back to eBay. To read more of Zack’s top 10, check out Zack Arias’ Gear Gadgets or follow eBay Finders directly for a range of other curator tips. We repeat, it’s a good intelligence report for any tech-phile. Dontcha’ just love a good cheat sheet?
Puck finally got there and headed inside, spotting her at the bar. “Hello beautiful,” he said with a cocky grin, blatantly checking her out. “What are you drinking?”
“Hey,” she smiled. “Jack and Coke,” she held up the glass to him before taking another sip.
He ordered a beer and sat down beside her. “This place is pretty great, from what I can see,” Puck said.
“Yeah, I’m sure it’ll look even better halfway through the night,” she smirked. Almost done with her drink, she contemplated between getting another one or joining Puck in drinking beer. “So how’s the settling in going?”
“Pretty good. My friend Quinn moved into the guest room…” he said, tilting his head to the side.
“Quinn…wasn’t that…I can’t remember, sorry. How’s that going?”

Allie had been unable to sleep for a while after she woke from her nightmare. Tired of tossing and turning, she finally got up at 5 am. She padded towards the kitchen and took out her favorite camera lens mug that Mika had given her last Christmas. While the expresso machine was warmed up, she glanced outside the window. It was still a bit dark, but she imagined store owner were busy preparing for today’s customers. The red LED lights appeared telling her the machine was ready and a 30 seconds later she had the black liquid in her cup. She took a sip and sank into her couch. Later she would be going into the office to receive her new assignment, and then to Macy’s to get herself a new skirt for the dinner she’d be having later with someone not named Jake some of her friends.
So cute :)
